Checking what is proved about a creator

Reading the ten separate verification dimensions, why there is no single verified badge, and why an ownership challenge cannot be checked on any platform on this build.

Creator verification answers ten separate questions about a creator and shows each one on its own. There is deliberately no single "verified" tick, because a tick has to mean something and every available meaning is misleading: if it means the person's identity was checked it silently claims they control the account, and if it means the account was connected it silently claims they may lawfully be paid. Those are different facts, established by different evidence, expiring at different times.

Every dimension on the page states what was verified, how, by whom or which provider, when, when it expires, whether it is still current, and what it does not prove. The last of those is not a footnote. A verification with no stated boundary is read as proof of whatever the reader hoped it proved.

BEFORE YOU START

  • The "view" permission for a workspace the creator was recorded in. Creators belong to workspaces, and this page only lists creators from workspaces you can reach.
  • A creator record. Nothing is verified about somebody who has not been recorded.
  • Nothing else. This is a reading page: it does not connect accounts, issue challenges or change any status.

STEPS

  1. Open Creator verification from the sidebar, under Engage.
  2. Read the table. Each creator shows a lifecycle state and, beside it, the sentence that says what that state means for what they may do.
  3. Open a creator to see the ten dimensions in full.
  4. Read each dimension's own statement rather than the chip beside it. The chip is a summary of the statement, never a replacement for it.
  5. Read the "What this does not prove" list under each dimension. It is different for each one and it is the part that tells you what you still do not know.
  6. Read the Provider connections section and the Ownership challenges section separately. They are two different claims about account control and the page never merges them.
  7. Read the Audience authenticity section last. Whether a creator controls an account and whether their audience is genuine are different questions with different evidence.

WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE

Ten dimensions, all of them present, including the ones nobody has recorded anything for. An unrecorded dimension says so and gives its reason; it is never left off the page, because a missing row is filled in by whoever reads it and on a screen about trust they fill it in favourably.

You will also see an orange band at the top saying that an ownership challenge cannot be checked on any platform. That is the current, honest position of this build and not a fault on your account.

WHAT THIS WILL NOT DO

  • It will not give you an overall score. The count of verified dimensions is shown, and the page says in words that it is not a grade: only identity and payment account decide whether a payout may lawfully be made, and three of the ten are counted from Social Studio's own records and can never be verified by anybody.
  • It will not check an ownership challenge. Social Studio holds no interface for reading a public profile on any network, so a challenge can be issued and never checked. The page says so rather than offering a button that would fail.
  • It will not accept a screenshot, an email or a direct-message image as evidence of ownership. There is no control that takes one, because such evidence cannot establish that somebody controls an account.
  • It will not treat a platform's own blue tick as proof of control. That badge is recorded as information the provider supplied about the account, and shown apart from account control.
  • It will not let a creator's claimed follower count replace a figure a provider supplied.

IF IT DOES NOT WORK

  • "No creators recorded" means no creator exists in a workspace you can reach. It is not a statement that everybody checked out fine.
  • "That creator is not in this list" means the creator named in the address is not reachable from this organisation. Non-membership and a non-existent record deliberately look the same.
  • A dimension reading "not verified" with a reason is working correctly. "Nobody has tried yet" and "the check ran and failed" are different reasons and the page prints whichever applies.
  • An ownership challenge showing "not supported" cannot be fixed by trying again, by reconnecting, or by sending a screenshot. Connect the account through the provider instead.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Why is there no single verified badge?

Because a tick has to mean one of ten different things and would be read as all of them. Identity, account control and payment account are established by different evidence, expire at different times, and only two of them decide whether a payout may lawfully be made.

Can we verify a creator with a screenshot of their profile?

No. A screenshot proves that an image exists. There is no control here that accepts one, because accepting one would create a verified state nobody could stand behind.

What does "insufficient data" mean beside audience authenticity?

That nothing could be assessed. It is the absence of a check, not the result of one, and it is never a statement that the audience is fine.
