Recording creators

Building a directory of creators by hand, recording their handles and audience figures with the source of each number, and why there is no creator score.

Creator Hub is a record of what people here have written down. The directory holds every creator this workspace has recorded, in alphabetical order.

There is no ranking and no score, because nothing in this product measures a creator. Every figure on these screens was typed in by a person and is shown with who said it. A follower count from a media kit is labelled as coming from a media kit; a figure the creator stated is labelled as the creator's own claim, not a measurement.

Nothing arrives here on its own. Creator Hub does not search for creators, score them, message them, or read anything from a platform.

BEFORE YOU START

  • The "create" permission to record a creator, and "edit" to change one or record an audience figure.
  • Access to the workspace.
  • The creator's details, from wherever you actually got them.

STEPS

  1. Open Creator Hub for the workspace, or go to /app/workspaces/{workspace}/creator-hub.
  2. Fill in the form at the bottom: display name is required; email, country, main platform, tags and notes are optional.
  3. Choose "Record creator".
  4. Open a creator to see their profile.
  5. Record a handle: pick the platform, type the handle, and optionally the profile address. Nothing opens it or reads anything from it.
  6. Record an audience figure against a handle. Choose the source, which is required, and fill in only the figures you actually know.

WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE

The creator listed in the directory, and on their profile the handles and audience figures you recorded, each labelled with where the number came from.

WHAT THIS WILL NOT DO

  • It will not look anything up. An email left blank stays blank; nothing here finds one.
  • It will not score a creator. The score card carries a disabled button and the reason: nothing is connected that can score a creator, so this would produce no number. Not a zero, not an estimate, and not a figure worked out from the follower counts on the page.
  • It will not turn a blank into a zero. A figure you leave blank stays blank, and a handle with no recorded figure says so rather than showing nothing measured as none.
  • It will not interpret your tags. They are your own words.
  • It will not rank the directory. There is no sort by quality, because there is no quality measure.

IF IT DOES NOT WORK

  • "Enter a display name to record a creator." means the one required field is empty.
  • "create permission required." and "edit permission required." are the permission refusals.
  • "This handle is already recorded for a creator in this organisation." means the handle is taken.
  • "An audience record must carry at least one figure. Recording none of them is not a measurement, and "not recorded" is already represented by the absence of a record."
  • "That creator could not be recorded." and "That handle could not be recorded." are the fallbacks.
  • A message ending "the request did not complete, so it is not known whether the change was made" means exactly that. Reload and check before trying again.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Why is the score button there if it never works?

Because the capability is declared and the reason it cannot run is worth stating. A hidden button would leave you wondering whether you had missed a setting.

Can I import a list of creators?

No. Every creator is recorded here by a person.
