Publishing your services and rates

Reading your rate cards and packages, seeing exactly what a public viewer sees of them, and why a commission preference is never an amount this product owes you.

A rate card is your own commercial terms. Social Studio has not checked, endorsed or agreed them, and no surface in this product presents them as anything but yours.

Every card carries an audience, so the card you wrote and the card a business reads are not the same thing. That is why this page shows both. Seeing only your own copy hides the two things most worth knowing: that a price you believe you published is withheld from everybody, or that a card you meant to keep private is on the public listing.

The public block is not a second opinion about your settings. It is the payload the directory itself would serve, produced by the same code.

BEFORE YOU START

  • A creator profile on this account.
  • At least one rate card, or both blocks will be empty.

STEPS

  1. Open Services and rates, or go to /app/creator/rates.
  2. Read your own cards. Cards nobody can currently see are listed too, with their audience named.
  3. Open a card for its territory, quantity, tax status, add-ons and expiry.
  4. Read your packages. A package names its contents, so listing one lists them.
  5. Read "What a public viewer actually sees" and compare it with what you expected.

WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE

Each card with its price stated as a sentence — a figure, a "from" figure, "negotiable", "quote required" or "commission only" — and the audience allowed to see it. Below, exactly what an unauthenticated business would be shown, including any service listed with its figure withheld.

WHAT THIS WILL NOT DO

  • It will not convert a figure between currencies. Nothing in this product does. A rate stated in one currency stays in it, because a figure silently re-expressed at some rate is a number nobody agreed to.
  • It will not calculate anything from your prices. No total, no average and no comparison across currencies.
  • It will not accrue a commission. A commission preference is a preference: it records what you would like to be paid, and nothing in this product computes, accrues or owes an amount from it.
  • It will not show a public viewer a figure you withheld. It shows them that a figure exists and is withheld, which is a different and more useful thing.
  • It will not let you add or edit a card from this page yet. The creator account interface that performs those is not published on the web, and the page says so rather than showing a control that would do nothing.

IF IT DOES NOT WORK

  • "No rate card yet" means you hold none. A business viewing your profile is told you publish no rates, rather than being shown a zero.
  • "A business that is not signed in sees no rate from you at all" means every card you hold is restricted to a narrower audience. That may be exactly what you intended; it is stated so it is never a surprise.
  • A card showing "Currently offered: no" has either expired or has not started. The expiry date is on the card's own detail.
  • A package that is hidden while every card in it looks visible usually contains one card that is not. A package is only as listable as its least visible item.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Why does this page show my rates twice?

Because the card you wrote and the card a business reads are not the same thing. Every card carries an audience, so seeing only your own copy would hide the two things most worth knowing: that a price you believe you published is withheld from everybody, or that a card you meant to keep private is on the public listing.

Is the public block an estimate of what others see?

No. It is the payload the directory itself would serve, produced by the same code, not a second opinion about your settings. If it shows nothing, a business signed in and looking at your profile sees nothing.

Has Social Studio approved my prices?

No. A rate card is your own commercial terms; this product has not checked, endorsed or agreed them, and no surface presents them as anything but yours. That is why a business is told you publish no rates rather than being shown a zero when you hold none.

Why is my package hidden when every card in it looks visible?

Because a package is only as listable as its least visible item, and one of its cards is restricted more narrowly than the rest. A package names its contents, so listing it would list them. The card's own detail shows which audience it is limited to.

Is a commission preference an amount you owe me?

No. It is a preference you have stated about how you would like to be paid, not a balance, not an agreement, and not a figure this product owes. What is actually payable appears on an offer, and separately from whether it was accepted.
