Recording creator outreach
Keeping a record of conversations you had with a creator elsewhere, and the reason there is no send button anywhere on the page.
Updated
Nothing on the outreach page is sent. Social Studio has no email, direct-message or WhatsApp connection for creators. Everything here is a note about a conversation you had somewhere else.
Recording a message does not deliver it. A thread marked "awaiting reply" means somebody here said so, not that the product checked. There is deliberately no send route in the product, because a button named send that only wrote a row would tell you your outreach went out.
What the record is for is the same thing any log is for: knowing who spoke to whom, when, and what was said, so the next person does not start again.
BEFORE YOU START
- The "create" permission to record a conversation or a message.
- Access to the workspace, and the creator recorded in it.
- The conversation itself, which happened elsewhere.
STEPS
- Open Outreach for the workspace, or go to /app/workspaces/{workspace}/creator-hub/outreach.
- Record a conversation: choose the creator, give it a subject, and choose where it actually happened. The channel is a label, not a delivery method.
- Open the thread and choose "Record what was said".
- Say whether you contacted them or they contacted you, paste or summarise the message, and optionally give the time it happened. Left blank, it is recorded with no time rather than filed as having happened now.
- Mark the thread Open, Awaiting reply or Closed as your own note of where it stands.
- Move the relationship stage separately if the conversation changed where you stand.
WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE
"The conversation was recorded. Nothing was sent." and, for each message, "The message was recorded. It was not sent." Each line in the thread ends by saying it was recorded here and not sent from here.
WHAT THIS WILL NOT DO
- It will not send an email, a direct message or a WhatsApp message. There is no transport of any kind.
- It will not check for a reply. "Awaiting reply" is your statement.
- It will not guess when something happened. A message with no time is shown as having no time recorded.
- It will not choose a delivery channel. The channel records where you spoke, and nothing is delivered.
IF IT DOES NOT WORK
- "That creator is not recorded in this workspace."
- "That relationship does not belong to this creator in this workspace."
- "create permission required." is the permission refusal.
- A failure ending "the request did not complete, so it is not known whether the change was made" means reload and look before recording it again.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Why record something the product did not send?
Because the record is the point. Three people approaching the same creator separately is the problem this solves, and it solves it whether or not the product carries the message.
Can I attach the actual email?
Paste it into the message body. Nothing is uploaded or linked.
